Dispute Intervention Services (DIS) is a sole proprietorship started and operated by Johnnie Scott Jr., Esquire. Mr. Scott worked twelve years periodically as a mental health specialist/counselor before attending graduate and law schools. He first attended Occidental College at Los Angeles, California his freshman and sophomore years before obtaining his Bachelor of Arts (BA/Sociology) from Loyola University at New Orleans. He later acquired a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from New Mexico State University and his Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque. Mr. Scott is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and has served as an Administrative Judge with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in Washington, D.C. He has also served with distinction as a Commissioner of Mediation with Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service (FMCS) in Oakland, California.
It is this unique and varied combination of education, work experience, counseling, management and the law that provides for his ability to assist parties in dispute, resolve their differences.
Mr. Scott began DIS for the sole purpose of assisting disputing parties with improving their relationships in the work environment through joint efforts. DIS is dedicated to the resolution of disputes through alternative processes to litigation. In accordance with this mandate, DIS has successfully assisted with the resolution of numerous employment issues for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the United States Postal Service (USPS), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and various entities in the public and private commercial sectors.
